It’s been a bleak spring. We drove to Big Sur in hopes of sunshine, but we found a blanket of fog over the ocean. Lunch at Ventana kept us above the clouds (for a time), and we stayed a bit longer to sip a glass of wine on the patio. Then this fellow showed up. He buzzed and whistled with a rusty see-sawing song before diving from the tall trees to the border of kangaroo paw (Anigozanthos flavidus) below. The Anna’s hummingbird took no mind of us. He sought the tiny white flowers among the crimson buds. And he allowed me several shots. I will likely post some of the others, but this is my favorite. I can’t improve on nature. No photo editing here: just cropping and my logo to remind people that this photo (and the moments behind it) belongs to someone else.
